ABOUT PESTS
The two main areas related to pests
ENTOMOLOGY
Entomology is the scientific study of insects and how they affect humans. Entomologists have studied all types of insects for years, and have been able to come up with a large variety of ways to effectively get rid of pests. This includes integrated pest management, which helps control insect population through combining natural and chemical methods. For years, these annoying pests have caused tons of crop and property damage. With the help of entomologists, controlling pest population has become easier..
Plant and Soil Health:
Plant and soil health area studies areas like mycology and microbiology. Research is conducted to improve plant disease management, plant biosecurity, soil health and bio-inoculants. There are three main elements that plants need to grow properly: nitrogen, phosphorous, and potassium. Nitrogen promotes chlorophyll production in plants, which furthermore helps photosynthesis take place. Phosphorus helps roots grow to be thick and strong, allowing the plant to absorb more water and nutrients. Potassium essentially allows the plant to “breathe”, changing carbon dioxide into oxygen. When plants lack these elements, it results in poor plant quality. Meanwhile, soil health is important as well in the production of plants. Soil is nourished when materials left behind by insects, birds, plants, and other animals break down
